Join the Department of Mathematics for the STAT (Sports, Technology, and Analytics at Trinity) Seminar, which teaches students about predictive analytics in sports.
STAT is led by mathematics professor Cabral Balreira with the support of the Mathematics department and the Sport Management Program. One does not need to be a math major or sport management minor to participate, you just need to be enthusiastic about sports and interested in learning about sports analytics. For questions about the seminar, please contact us at ebalreir [at] trinity.edu.
The Department of Mathematics and the Sport Management Program at Trinity University invite you to compete in the NFL Oracle versus Trinity Challenge. Tiger students, faculty, staff, Alumni, and friends of the University are challenged to see if you can pick NFL games during the 2017 season better than the NFL Oracle ranking method. Participation is free and results will be posted weekly. You will find links for the the surveys to enter your picks and see the results of the challenge.
The competition is maintained by the STAT Seminar. We highlight that participation in the STAT Seminar is voluntary and not associated with any courses. Our students from diverse majors across campus do this extra work because they simply want to learn more about data analytics. We have had guest speakers, including alumni, in our seminar, and we hope you can support this group and this challenge.
Participation in this competition is free, but donations are appreciated. Please, make sure to indicate that donations will go to the Sport Management student fund in the special instructions. Your donation will be used to help support students' travel to conferences, professional development opportunities, honorariums for guest speakers, and of course, food for students at STAT Seminar meetings and sport management fund.
