Function: Conducts research in chemistry, mentors undergraduate research students
Scope: Designs experiments, conducts and troubleshoots experiments, analyzes data, communicates science, maintains instrumentation, assists undergraduate research students with laboratory work, contributes to other teaching activities as appropriate.
Typical: Laboratory chemistry research, chemical literature research
Periodic: Maintaining and troubleshooting scientific instrumentation, assisting undergraduate research students with laboratory work, contributing to other teaching activities as appropriate
Required: Graduate training in chemistry or related discipline
Preferred: Experience with synthetic organic chemistry, and/or NMR spectroscopy
PhD in chemistry or related discipline
Position is grant funded and renewal is pending satisfactory job performance, department needs, and funding availability.
