The Team Up Challenge Scholars Program, coordinated by Silver & Black Give Back (San Antonio Spurs Foundation), is for select college students who serve as mentors for the K-12 Team Up Challenge participants throughout the academic year. Scholars take a leadership role and guide their Team Up Challenge team (K-12 students) in a service-learning project.
The Team Up Scholars have an interest in service and a desire to make the greater San Antonio community a better place to live and work. They have a unique opportunity to mentor and work with young people and the players, coaches, and staff of Spurs Sports & Entertainment - all of whom are committed to giving back.
"I intend to become a third grade teacher and have seen firsthand the benefits a project like this can hold both educationally and formatively in the students' lives."
Mary Hayden Manning, Senior
"We have a good project to work on and it will be very cool to see how this turns out in the end. The 1st grade classes are very excited that they may have a playground sometime in the future."
Sal Perdomo, Senior
