The summer component offers participants the opportunity to receive further academic enrichment while experiencing the expectations and demands of a college environment. The summer component is a vital part of the Upward Bound experience. It is an intensive, six-week college preparatory session that all members of the Upward Bound community are expected to attend.
During the summer component, students participate in a series of academic courses on the Trinity University campus. The summer program engages participants in dynamic academic classes including creative writing, literature, mathematics, foreign language and laboratory science including physics, biology and chemistry. Students also receive daily tutorial, ACT preparation and have an opportunity to enroll in a series of elective courses.
As a culmination to the summer component, students who have successfully completed attendance and academic requirements have the opportunity to attend an out-of-town field trip.
