Year I Joined the Trinity Office of Admissions: 2016
Students I Work With: Colorado, Southern United States (Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee), Texas (Austin, East Texas, and Beaumont)
Favorite College Course: This is tough because I loved all of the courses I took at Trinity. Perhaps the most rewarding class I took was Theorizing Myth with Cook in Classical Studies. I majored in Ancient Mediterranean Studies, so I was familiar with mythology. However, studying myth through the interdisciplinary lenses of philosophy, psychology, sociology, and even linguistics was a very different and eye-opening experience. The course was both incredibly challenging and engaging. There wasn't a single class that I left without at least one "mind-blown" moment.
Favorite Trinity experience: I have a summer birthday, so for my first three years on campus I never participated in the campus tradition of the Birthday Dunk. I was always slightly disappointed to miss out on one of the most popular traditions Trinity has. The summer before my senior year, I was on campus during the summer for an internship. On my birthday, my friends took me up to the fountain for my first official birthday splash in the fountain. It was so much fun getting in the fountain and finally seeing what all the fuss was about!
One Thing I Love About San Antonio: I have been visiting San Antonio with my family since I was very little, so it always felt like home to me. San Antonio is a unique combination of historical vibrancy with modern influence. The Alamo and the River Walk anchor the city in history but simply turn a corner and you'll find a modern art gallery or a new restaurant to try. That constant mingling of familiarity with novelty is what drew me to study and eventually live in San Antonio.
College Search Advice: Research, research, research! Utilize all the resources at your disposal: your peers, online sources, campus visits, etc. Try to keep in mind that the most valuable resource at your disposal is your gut. When you find a school that feels like it fits your personality and needs, go with it!
