Academic Affairs

A welcome letter from Dr. Deneese L. Jones, Ph.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs

I am so pleased that you have visited our site. As Trinity University’s Chief Academic Officer, I serve in the leadership role of collaboratively establishing and implementing the strategic vision of our academic enterprise. Among my top priorities as Vice President for Academic Affairs, I strive to:

  • Lead faculty members to achieve excellence in teaching, research, scholarship, creative activity and service
  • Achieve the goals of the Trinity Tomorrow strategic plan and the Pathways curriculum
  • Support a learning environment that is student-centered and fosters inclusive excellence
  • Uphold the highest standards of shared governance
  • Empower Department Chairs and other academic leaders to serve intentionally for the achievement of shared goals
  • Nurture a culture that celebrates achievement and encourages thoughtful risk taking

The Academic Affairs Team

In my service, I am joined by three Associate Vice Presidents, a Special Assistant, and a capable team of administrative support staff. Learn more about my team and our roles here. My office works closely with several other units across campus in service of our larger goal of implementing the academic mission of the institution. I meet regularly with Department Chairs, Directors of interdisciplinary majors and minors, and the leadership of the Faculty Senate to develop partnerships, policies, and procedures to assist in the process of carrying out the important work that we do together in service to our undergraduate and graduate students.

I am available to meet with faculty members through individual office meetings, informal conversation at University events, and during my “Roving Coffee Series” that is held throughout campus at various times during the academic year. On this website, we provide information on academic policies, curriculum, programs, resources, procedures, and opportunities for faculty and staff. Members of the Trinity University community should feel free to contact us for further assistance with academic concerns or questions.
